Rejected petition Create one national teacher application form

Create a national teacher application form that all teachers can complete. This application form is then stored on a database and regularly updated prior to applying to a new school. The form should be uniform and used across all schools regardless of whether they are an academy or state school.

More details

The current process teachers face when applying for a new job is time-consuming. Teachers spend hours copying key information about their address, previous occupations and any training they have undertaken for no reason other than schools have a different format. The same information is requested every time, which makes applying for a new teaching role something of an uphill battle. The main focus for any teacher applying for a new role is the personal statement.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

The Government could produce and require maintained schools to use a standardised application form, but the Government and Parliament are not responsible for recruitment by private schools. As a result it is not possible for the Government or Parliament to take the whole of the action you have requested.

We could accept a petition calling on the Government to produce and require maintained schools to use a standardised application form.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
