Recently, the Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia have highlighted problems concerning homophobia in European countries. A continent wide set civil rights acts need to be introduced which set very clear guidelines for how homosexuals are to be treated, and a very clear number of sanctions for hate crimes relating to sexuality. Racism is now illegal, and discouraged in schools across our entire continent, this needs to become the case with homophobia.
