Rejected petition Give people the option to have the one-off £200 electricity discount

The Government should reconsider imposing the one-off £200 electricity discount and allow people the option to apply for it instead.This will enable people to manage their money in the way that suits them best and not find themselves in debt, particularly if utility prices do not fall next year.

We live in a free democracy and should not have financial constraints imposed on us by government.

Some people e.g young people moving into their first home and not having received the discount will become liable to repay the discount, putting them into immediate debt.
