This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

We can't publish petitions when the request is something that's already happening or something that has been announced since you started your petition.

We think your petition is covered by Government or Parliament action already. If you'd like something else, you could start a new petition clearly explaining what it is.

Education about physical health and mental wellbeing is already part of the Department for Education's statutory guidance on Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education, which forms part of the national curriculum: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/changes-to-personal-social-health-and-economic-pshe-and-relationships-and-sex-education-rse

The curriculum content on mental wellbeing includes how to recognise and talk about emotions, self-care techniques, and where and how to seek support.

We could accept a petition calling for changes to the national curriculum content on mental health, but it would need to be clear what changes you want. We could also only accept a petition about this in respect of England, as education is a devolved matter in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:

Increase funding for mental health support in schools: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/607356

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
