Close Russian embassy to UK, close UK embassy to Moscow, expel diplomats, revoke visa and residence permit for their relatives.

One of the principals of UK is not negotiate with terrorists, and Russian government proved to be that terrorists, taking hostage millions of people in Ukraine.

Russian government waging full scale aggression and war in Ukraine, apparently targeting civilian population, kindergartens, and threatening to invade anybody who oppose it.
Government of Russia revoke all principal of democracy and peaceful coexistence. Literally citing Nazi and opposing anyone who don't agree.
Keeping relationship with Russian Government harmful for UK, and cannot her securing peace. Breaking ties on other hand can send a strong message to people who believe in justice.
