Rejected petition Review ferritin (iron) “normal range” from blood tests to aid diagnosis in women

Current normal ranges the NHS use to diagnose anemia/low iron levels are causing menstruating women to miss important information about an easily treatable and common condition, especially when receiving results from a non-medical professional.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Decisions relating to which medical tests to use, and how to interpret the results of those tests, are clinical matters for healthcare professionals and the NHS, not the UK Government or Parliament.

You could have a petition calling on the Government to commission a review of how anaemia in menstruating women is diagnosed and treated by the NHS, if that is something you'd like to see happen.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
