Rejected petition Audit MPs & government advisors personal finances for links to covid contracts

Undertake an investigation into MPs & government advisors to establish whether they personally gained from decisions they have made or influenced. All personal shares in companies that have gained from government policy should be investigated e.g.
pharmaceutical companies, testing & PPE suppliers.

More details

Transparency International reported that there were corruption red flags in 20% in UK's (covid) PPE contracts. Of particular concern was the ‘VIP’ lane used to fast track offers of PPE from companies referred by MPs, peers & senior officials. The High Court ruled that the government acted unlawfully by failing to disclose details of Covid-related contracts until forced to do so by litigation. It is therefore appropriate to investigate whether these decisions were driven by personal gain.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. MPs are already required to declare financial interests, which you can see here

https://www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/standards-and-financial-interests/parliamentary-commissioner-for-standards/registers-of-interests/register-of-members-financial-interests/

The failure to register a relevant interest could be a breach of the Code of Conduct for Members, which you can read more about here:

https://www.parliament.uk/business/publications/commons/hoc-code-of-conduct/

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
