Rejected petition Make it Law for Children in Primary&Secondary Education to Receive CPR training.
I would like it to be compulsory for schools who teach children ages 8+ to teach them the chain of survival (including how to call for help, how to use an AED safely if one is available, how to administer cardiovascular resuscitation).
More details
Current resuscitation statistics in the UK are staggeringly low, this could be changed by implementing the compulsory training of the chain of survival, which is proven to save lives. This teaching of children is proven to give patients the best chance when they suffer a cardiac arrest out of hospital. Norway has implemented this into the curriculum since 1961 and has the highest survival rate in the world of 25% in comparison to the UK of only 8-10%. This could save so many people worth saving.

Why was this petition rejected?
We can't publish petitions when the request is something that's already happening or something that has been announced since you started your petition.
We think your petition is covered by Government or Parliament action already. If you'd like something else, you could start a new petition clearly explaining what it is.
The Government's new Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education curriculum requires that all students be taught first aid in primary and secondary schools. This includes "life-saving skills, including how to administer CPR".
You can read the full Relationships Education, Relationships and
Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education curriculum here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/908013/Relationships_Education__Relationships_and_Sex_Education__RSE__and_Health_Education.pdf
You could start a new petition asking for a specific change to the above guidance. For example, you may wish the Government to change the suggestion that "CPR is usually best taught after 12 years old" to after 8 years old, if that's something that you'd like to see.
