Rejected petition Introduce a cap on profits made by energy companies.

There needs to be a cap on how much profit energy companies can make.

More details

Right now people are struggling to pay their ever rising energy bills, meanwhile energy companies are reporting record profits. It's disgraceful that they are allowed to make so much money from people who are struggling to make ends meet.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We understand that you are concerned about the profits that some companies are making and the impact of high costs on people. However, we're not exactly sure how you'd want a cap on profits to work, or what that cap should be.

You could start a new petition explaining what you'd like to happen. For example, you could start a petition asking the UK Government to increase its current energy profits tax to a certain level, if that's something that you'd like to see.
