Petition Give passengers the power to revoke a train operators licence

The train operators have been awarded monopolies and, in many cases, deliberately treat customers exceptionally poorly in order to maximise profits as they know that passengers have very little recourse and what they do have can be "costed in up front"

A mechanism whereby a threshold of complaints being reached within a 12 month period should trigger the loss of the train operators licence and the franchise returned to public management until such time as another franchisee can be select and the offending operator banned from holding a licence for a period of 5 years. The practice of station skipping should be outlawed and train operators should be required to publish maintenance records on line with details of the number of failures for each engine in any period
