Rejected petition Don’t borrow or use public money to prop up private energy companies’ profits

The government’s refusal to tax the massive profits made by private energy companies and instead to SUPPLY them taxpayers’ money is an outrageously irresponsible use of public finances. This petition demands that the use of public money is fair, fully scrutinised and directly for the public good.

More details

Exploitative pricing and vast windfall profits are immoral, intensely damaging to society, its individuals and businesses. Social cohesion and social mobility, family security, health and welfare are all being obliterated. A government should stand up for the people and the public purse rather than facilitate corporate greed.

Why was this petition rejected?

There’s already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We're not sure whether you would like the Government not to fund a further cap on energy costs, or if you'd like to change how it is funded.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
