Rejected petition Make British Sign Language a compulsory part of school curriculum
More details
We feel it is very important to teach sign language in schools- this will enable us to communicate with a larger percentage of the population. 1 in 2874 people use sign language as a first language, and 1 in 6 of the population have some form of hearing impediment. We need to be able to communicate with so many people, which is why we want to give the next generation the tools to do this and be more inclusive of a wide percentge of the population.
