Rejected petition British HKongers of Chinese descent to declare as British, not Chinese, subjects

British HongKongers should be given the rights to express their wishes explicitly (similar to or alongside with the existing online platform of applying the BNO Visa) that they like to remain as British subjects and opt for British Consulate protection (when caught up in troubles in HK, PR of China)

More details

In view of the many gross violations of the Sino-British Joint Declaration (signed in 1984) on the Chinese side since the Handover, as well as the deterioration in the British style rule-of-law and justice in HK, British HKongers now remain in or return to HK, would face a personal safety crisis. The Chinese authorities stated clearly not to recognize these people as British subjects and deny them of British consulate protection all together. Such unilateral actions on the Chinese side not only antagonize British national dignity and interests but also broke the promises of the British system of ways of life (judiciary and respect of human rights in particular) remains the same for 50 years. Britain need to be seen, by the whole world, of keeping her side of the bargain and promises.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We're not sure whether you want people from Hong Kong who are not BN(O)s to be entitled to seek the same status as BN(O)s or something else.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

You might like to know that the term British Subject is now in use for most relationships between individuals and the UK.

If you start a new petition, you might want to be clearer on what sort of nationality relationship you'd like people to have with the state.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
