The difference between 3mm and 1.6mm is it takes up to 10 meters more depending on speed to stop your vehicle which could make all the difference as stopping is the most important part of driving

A high percentage of part worn tyres are not regulated and safety checked and some places fit 2mm tyres or in some cases 1.6mm and others are fitted damaged or faulty or with illegal repairs

Key question is, How many accidents could be avoided if this law is passed?
