To raise the current stamp duty thresholds in accordance with current house prices for family homes.
The current 3% for homes between £250,000 and £500,000 should be lowered to 1%.
The 3% threshold has not been changed since 2000 when the average price of a family home was £79,242.
The average cost of a family home has risen to £254000 therefore this raise would assist growing families to move to homes more suitable for their family needs and release more homes into the housing market.
