Petition First responders to use warning sirens and flashing lights

More details

Based on a recent appeal ruling (Neutral Citation Number: [2014] EWHC 669 (Admin)

Case No: CO/17463/2013):

Potentially all cars/motorcycles used for the purpose of delivering skilled medical and paramedical personnel to ill, disabled or injured patients are illegally using warning sirens and flashing lights to get to them quickly, because they are not "ambulances".

I propose that the Government updates current legislature to encompass the current pre-hospital health system and make it legal for both ambulance service owned vehicles and privately owned vehicles to be allowed to use sirens and flashing lights to improve time-to-scene to provide life saving care.

The example is for doctors and paramedics using their own vehicles in an altruistic fashion to save life when dispatched by the ambulance service, eg BASICS response or community first responders.
