Closed help for intrest on working single parents

I am a single parent and want to go back to work and provide for my children but doing the sums i am worse off working because i own a property and would struggle to feed my children BUT if i rented i would be 100 pound better off a week i am not asking for the balance but a little help on the intrest how is this fair mums not being part of their childrens lifes because they are stuck with a property they can not sell.
