This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
We understand that you are concerned about youth crime and violence, but many of the things you request in your petition are not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Decisions about excluding students are a matter for individual schools. Decisions about investigating and prosecuting alleged crimes are a matter for the police and Crown Prosecution Service, and decisions about sentencing are a matter for the courts.
We can accept petitions calling for changes to the minimum and maximum sentences for certain offences, as these are set out in legislation, but you'd need to be clear what offences you wanted minimum and maximum sentences to be changed for, and how you wanted these changed.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
