Rejected petition Stop the avoidance of child maintenance payments by working cash in hand
Parents should not be allowed to get away with not paying child maintenance because they work cash in hand, or claim to have a zero income. Many of these parents fraudulently claim benefits, then the receiving parent is told other debts take priority over child maintenance.

The child maintenance service are facilitating financial abuse. Paying child maintenance should not be something you can opt out of.

The Child Maintenance Service can already appoint investigating officers to gather information that they need to help them with setting up, managing or enforcing child maintenance. Deciding on when to investigate a paying parent is an operational matter for the Child Maintenance Service.
