Petition save silverdale acre allotments
More details
Newcastle borough council are trying to evict local residents from the acre allotments for breaking their tenancy agreement for keeping live stock in the live stock lane, two residents have been there over 50 years and 3 over 30 years. Over the years the local council have had meetings with the tenants and DEFRA because people were keeping pigs, the council have known from day one. An OS map from 1890 show allotments on this site, not only that the land was given to the people of silverdale in the 1820s, which we proof from the archives in Stafford town centre, the council have been asked to prove that they actually own the land. One of the said allotments does not have live stock on it, the council have not even looked at this allotment which is used for solely for Gardening, We believe the council want this land for orther purpose. The allotments are part of the local community dont let the local council deprive the community of this important feature
