Business Rates being linked to the value of the property unfairly penalise small and start-up companies and does not reflect the actual turnover of the firm. By scrapping the business rates and replacing it with a local sales tax of low percentile value of sales payable to local authorities would increase start-ups, make small businesses more competitive, increase entrepreneurship and employment.
