Legislation should be passed in the interests of transparency and political integrity that Mps found making incorrect expense claims should face an automatic an independent Police investigation for fraud as any other benefit cheat would be. If found guilty there must be mandatory repayment of all incorrect monies received PLUS lost interest for the entire period(s) the monies were claimed for, the perpetrator should also lose his/her job for mis-appropriation of funds from the public purse and disallowed from ever running for office again. No ifs or buts. Those who make genuine errors would obviously have nothing to fear.
