The Government should fund protective and defensive equipment for paramedics and crew members, such as stab vests and pepper spray to ensure the most possible safety in difficult situations and environments. Due to the rise in abusive and threating situations.

Paramedics and crew have to put themselves into life threatening situations, the requirement of stab vests is crucial in cases where knives are used, however a majority don’t have this protection. In Feb 2022 the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives said "every day last year, a staggering 32 ambulance staff were abused or attacked - more than one during every hour of every day throughout the whole year; a total of 11,749 staff. This was an increase of 4,060 incidents over the last 5 years.
