Rejected petition Stop the BBC wasting money on self-promotion and reduce non-English content.

More details

As the BBC is unable to regulate itself, and would not make rules which restrict its ability to shout about itself and lavish itself in praise, I wish Parliament to force them to act as follows:

Any programming which matches any of the following should be banned, as it is in very bad taste to take our money, and then spend it on any of these:

* Media awards events. (OF ANY DESCRIPTION)
* "Celebrity" opinions on any subject whatsoever.
* 30-second BBC promo advert thingies.
* Programming which focuses on the BBC itself and would not be shown on a commercial channel.
* TV and iPlayer content which unfairly over-represents minority languages in the UK (Scots, Welsh, or any other) - the quantity of this is alienating and divisive to an Englishman.

It's a broadcasting service which serves a function. That is to entertain and inform, not to self-promote or build cults of personality.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

This is a matter for the BBC, and the BBC Trust.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
