With grave concern for everyone in Niger amid the recent military takeover. There are concerns of military intervention by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and France. The UK must seek a diplomatic resolution to the crisis.

The potential consequences of violent intervention are dire for the entire region. Let us stand united to prevent further suffering and potential loss of innocent lives in Niger and beyond. We believe diplomacy is the only way forward, and that it is paramount that the UK Government takes a leading role in promoting peaceful resolutions.
