Currently the lowest priced private rented house in Wigan is £650 pcm for a 2 bedroom house, current local housing allowance for a 2 bed house is set at £103pw. This leaves a shortfall of £154 pcm for those entitled to full allowance. They are entitled to full allowance due to there income falling below what they need to survive but are expected to find this extra £150 pm as social housing is over run and mortgage rates are rising in turn so is private rent
