Closed petition Require car buyers to be told how dangerous vehicles are for child pedestrians

Closed on

There are enormous differences between vehicles regarding mortality rates for children they hit. This should be a factor for consumers when choosing a vehicle.

If they suffer the misfortune of hitting a child with their car, the chances of it being a mortality change significantly with vehicle design.

Develop a rating system for vehicles that expresses how likely a mortality will result if a child is hit at standard speeds of 20 and/or 30 miles per hour. It should then made a mandatory requirement for new car sales that this information is presented to potential buyers. There are significant differences between car types and the dangers they pose to pedestrian children. This needs to be made public. The public need to be aware of this issue to factor it in to their choice of new car.
