Closed petition Ban businesses from providing services exclusively through apps

Closed on

I am being disenfranchised by my country because I do not own a smart phone. I do not want one and should not be penalised. Almost everything has an app, and many services can only be accessed or used via an app. It seems that soon you may not be able to do anything without a smart phone.

As a simple example McDonalds used to have tokens to collect on the cups, now you must use the app. They and many other companies allow you to collect points and also offer discounts on their app. I miss out, and believe this is undemocratic, and restricts access to services for people who are not on expensive contracts. I pay £6 per month for unlimited calls and texts on a non-smart mobile phone!

Many banks are closing branches because they say you can do everything on the app. Not if you don't have a smart phone.
