Petition Make protective motorcycle clothing mandatory.
More details
What is the point in wearing a helmet if nothing else is protected?
Ok, it may look cool: wearing a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops on your Kawasaki Ninja... but if you come off, even at 30mph, the helmet on your head will do little for your skin, muscle, flesh, bones and vital organs...
There is little point in retaining the law making the wearing of helmets compulsory, if the wearing of full CE-approved armour is not. The head is but a small (abeit crucial) part of the human body.
In order to reduce motorcycle fatalities and serious injury, the wearing of full, protective clothing should be mandatory on all combustion engine bikes.
Failure to wear full armour should result in the same penalty as not wearing a helmet.
