Rejected petition Create a clear company car definition so companies provide correct mileage rates

The definition of a company car needs further clarification to prevent companies who provide employees with cash car allowances from defining those private vehicles as company cars and therefore only renumerating those employees at the company car mileage rate, which is lower than the 45p rate

More details

This issue is widespread across all sectors and results in employees being out of pocket for operating their private vehicle on behalf of their employer. The cash csr allowance afforded to employees, should be coupled with the 45 and 25ppm rate, not the reduced company car rate (fuel/ engine dependant)

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned that some people are not being reimbursed fairly for mileage, but it's not clear how you want the Government to define company cars.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
