Petition Prevention of cold calling by agents acting on behalf of Government

Given that a substantial number of cold calls originate from companies acting as agents of the government in respect of boiler renewal and loft insulation schemes the government should set up and maintain a register similar to the Telephone Preference Service where members of the public can record the fact that they have no requirement for such works and opt out of receiving further calls.

[Background - I live in a two year old house and must have received twenty or so such calls already this year. When I object to the constant intrusion and politely request that my number is removed from the database I am routinely cut off]
