Closed petition Make reproductive status a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010
Closed on
We would like the Government to make reproductive status a protected characteristic under the 2010 Equality Act. This could help end discrimination against the around 1 in 5 adults who don't have children and ensure equal access to healthcare policies & flexible opportunities in the workplace.
We believe this change could improve society, the economy and inclusion in work. Some adults without children report that they are being discriminated against in the workplace and society. They describe that they can feel undervalued and exploited, and suffer from mental health issues and social exclusion, which can negatively impact their health, career, and life quality. We also think they are overlooked when compared to the opportunities, flexibility and benefits granted to parents such as paid/unpaid leave.
