To encourage people to cease or reduce smoking, nicotine patches should not be allowed to be a purely commercial, brand led venture.

Generic government patches should be available at extremely low cost, over the counter. Requiring people to visit the Doctor and get repeat prescriptions every two weeks merely adds a hurdle and reduces success rates.
