Closed Raise the age of sexual consent to 18

Current UK law states that all 16 and 17 year olds must be in either:
* Full-time education - eg at a school or college
* An apprenticeship or traineeship
* Part-time education or training - as well as being employed, self-employed, or volunteering for 20 hours or more a week.

These children, by law, cannot buy tobacco products, offensive weapons (knives and similar), crossbows, adult fireworks, solvents, airguns, lighter refills containing butane, and alcohol. They are also prohibited from entering bars, nightclubs, strip clubs, and watching others have sex (pornography or sex scenes in 18-rated films), yet THEY THEMSELVES are free to have sex.

This is hypocrisy of the highest order. I would like the age of sexual consent to be raised to 18.
