The national shortage of HGV Drivers is set to increase in September with the introduction of the mandatory CPC, retiring thousands of drivers across the country.

This, in an industry that is already short of demand and requiring EU immigration to plug a skills gap in a country that still has unemployment issues.

The government should subsidise costs, introduce a scheme for new drivers and provide incentives to the logistics industry to embrace a new wave of fresh drivers.
