Closed petition Protect biodiversity by banning use and sale of mahogany products

Closed on

One mahogany tree can have grown for 400 years in the amazon rain forest supporting extraordinary levels of biodiversity including species as yet unidentified.

There's a market for the wood that these trees provide but it's a market that is ensuring these majestic trees are logged at a rate that will ensure their extinction within a couple of generations. Once gone they cannot be replaced.

The largest market for mahogany products is the UK. By banning the use and sale of mahogany timber and products the driving force to cut them down will be gone.

By saving the trees we save the rainforest.
By saving the rainforest we save biodiversity.
By saving biodiversity we save ourselves.
