Allow all prisoners access to the psychological, emotional and educational help they need to function in society upon leaving prison.

Prison can and should be a place where those who are distressed and desperate enough to commit crimes are given all the help they need.

In the long run this will probably cost less due to reduced crime, reduced re-offending rates and the ability of previously unstable criminals to contribute to society upon leaving prison.

If it does cost the country slightly more money to fund a truly effective rehabilitation system. Then ask yourself if you really value money over human potential, and your own safety?
