Raise Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) to £250 per week. Increase Universal Credit during maternity, and do not take household income into account (treat all mothers as a single income).

We don’t think that using partners income to assess UC during maternity is fair as income may still affected in that household during maternity. Raise SMP because at the moment it might not even cover bills. Especially with cost of living at the moment. UC to be increased even if they have a partner as income in that household may be affected.
