Petition Give Police and Councils More Powers to Stop Excessive Neighbourhood Noise Nuisance
More details
Give the Police and Councils more powers to stop Excessive Neighbourhood Noise Nuisance -
Currently, it is a nightmare trying to stop neighbours from playing excessively loud music.
Local Councils are understaffed, often cannot get out to witness the noise in time and are generally toothless in stopping noise nuisance.
Local Police say it is a Local Council matter, unless they are disturbing the peace in the middle of the night. Even then, they have very few powers to use to stop noise nuisance.
There should be a Law introduced, or series of Laws, to give the Police and/or Local Councils powers to stop excessive noise at any time of day or night, and particularly between the hours of 10:00pm and 8am.
Perhaps another clause in the Harrassment Act specifically referring to excessive noise nuisance on two or more occasions would suffice?
