To improve safety and accessibility to Leysdown Road, there have been a large number of fatalities in recent years. This is the only viable access route for the communities of Leysdown, Warden, Bayview & Harty, which is also a popular seaside holiday resort, seeing many visitors every year, meaning people can be stranded when the road is closed for many hours, leaving people vulnerable.
