Closed petition Save Devon's care homes

Save Devon's care homes

Devon County Council's decision to close 20 of its adult residential care homes and 17 of its day centres is devastating news for some of the most vulnerable people of Devon, their families and hundreds of dedicated UNISON members who provide top quality care to hundreds of Devon residents.

UNISON Devon County Branch has vowed to fight the council’s decision, which will leave over 400 vulnerable adults with an uncertain future and will see over 1,000 council employees lose their jobs, the vast majority of which are low paid women.

The Branch would like Devon County Council to reconsider its decision, which we believe is morally wrong and based on inaccurate attendance figures and related costs.

Please sign our e-petition to help us make it clear to the council that the people of Devon want to keep these vital services in house and not exposed to the vagaries of the private sector.

Many thanks

UNISON Devon County Branch
