BAN THE IMPORT OF LION TROPHIES
The African Lion has plummeted from over 200,000 to an estimated 20,000 in just 50 years.
Where there is a clear threat to a species, we must stop all further imports of that species.
Canned Hunting - the killing of habituated lions within an enclosure. Lions bred in captivity in South Africa, petted and raised by volunteers & tourists and then sold to be hunted, often drugged & baited.
These tourists & volunteers are not aware of the lions destination.
Lion farmers also need a constant supply of wild lions to prevent in-breeding, leading to poached lions.
The likes of Melissa Bachman & Kendall Jones are clear examples of hunters & their focus on the thrill of killing rather than actual conservation of the species.
Where there's doubt over a lion trophy's origin or unethical background, the UK must take the stance of denying the import of all lion trophies.
