Closed petition Passport distribution overseas should be done by local consulates

Closed on

The FCO is regrouping the production and distribution of passports in a handful of centres.
This has a considerable cost for overseas Britons who will have to pay increased postage and courier fees.
It will increase the risk of identity theft and fraud, because applications done entirely by mail will replace person to person contact in UK consulates, high commissions and embassies.

The handling of passport applications and the distribution of passports should remain in the hands of local consulates, high commissions and embassies to strengthen the ties between the UK and British citizens living overseas.
