Petition Canvey Island - treat side roads equally

More details

Since the 2 recent floods in August 2013 and
last Sunday 20th July 2014, it has become more and more obvious that the drainage and pumping systems on Canvey Island are seriously inadequate.
However, what be became more obvious in the aftermath of the flood was the smaller side roads in Canvey Island got appalling assistance from all the help offered opposed to the main roads.
Obviously I'm aware that the main roads have bus routes etc and understand 'why' they would take priority, but my gripes are against:
- our pleas for help to pump water, clear waste drains and even down to cleaning raw sewerage from our road was either ignored (eg pumping water FROM road) or "bumped down" the priority list (drains and road sweeping)
- refuge collectors would not even collect recyclable rubbish and children were collecting this on boats and taking it back to cart to avoid workers 'getting feet wet'
If our side roads are SO unimportant, then why are we expected to pay the same council tax?
