Petition Support a Royal Pardon for all the Pentrich Martyrs
More details
A Pardon for the Pentrich Prisoners of conscience, including the three executed leaders: Jeremiah Brandreth: Isaac Ludlam and William Turner and all those Pentrich Rioters deported to Australia.
Descendants of those starving men around the world still cry out for justice.
Heaven knows:
Pentrich Martyrs, to a cause you fell
You had your say, and were locked away
There never was a hope in hell
Harsh masters ruled the day
Heaven knows:
With pitchforks, rusty knives and staves
You marched along as sorry braves
And never was a hope in hell
Harsh masters ruled the day
Heaven knows:
The years still echo names that cannot rest
Long gone the gallows and the axe-mans blade
Brandreth: Turner: Ludlam: put to test
Harsh masters ruled the day
Heaven knows
To grievous pain, and torture you were led
Martyred by a State in fear, lest anarchy held sway
Butchered and bled for a loaf o’ bread
Harsh masters ruled the day
