Closed petition IMPROVED HOME - SCHOOL TRANSPORT FOR SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN IN SANDWELL

Sandwell home-school transport causing distress and mental health problems to Special Needs Children and their families.Parents are asking for service providers to consider the needs of SEN Children and the devastating impact simple changes to transport have on the child and their family. Improvements needed:1.Travel companies providing school transport to work more efficiently with IPTU – Notifying them of any transport changes as soon as possible e.g. time, route, driver, escort, passengers.2.IPTU to work in partnership with families and inform parents and carers of any transport changes either in writing or by telephone as soon as possible. 3.If transport is running late or has broken down parents and carers are to be notified as soon as possible.4.New escorts should be introduced through a Meet and greet service organised by IPTU. 5.Any unforeseen or last minute changes should be reported promptly enabling IPTU to contact parents and carers prior to travel.
