Rejected petition Stop the use of 'Islam' word to represent criminal terrorist organisation in mainstream media

More details

As a Muslim, it is my right to represent my belief in the most accurate way as described in my religion.

The recent terror organisations using the 'Islam' word to represent terrorist groups undermines my religion and misrepresents it to our nation and to the world.

This act of using such words can cause public issues and disorder amongst people living in democratic countries.

I am writing to our Dept. Culture, Media and Sport to act on this behalf and lead the Media to use the correct words to represent 'Un-Islamic' groups with accurate sentencing and description.

A really no brainer example:

Correct:
Un-Islamic terrorist group

Incorrect and Misleading:
Islamic terrorist group

Please help us to make and portray Islam correctly.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

This is a matter for the media to address. The Government cannot tell newspapers what to write, as long as it is within the law. There are already laws against hate crime concerning religion and race.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
