Petition We the people of the UNITED Kingdom respectfully ask HM The Queen to convene a Constitutional Convention

More details

We the people of the UNITED Kingdom:

- recognising we have reached a critical moment in our country's history;
- hoping that Scotland will vote No to independence;
- nevertheless clear that real, immediate change is required;

respectfully ask HM The Queen to convene a Constitutional Convention as soon as possible.

We propose The Convention:

- to report directly to HM The Queen and, as such, to be free from partisan direction;
- to sit in the Supreme Court and be headed by a senior judge;
- to consider evidence from all parts of our society;
- to prepare a Written Constitution which provides a durable long-term settlement for our country;
- to submit this Constitution to the people in a referendum;

- begins taking evidence as soon as possible;
- closes to evidence on 31st December 2014;
- publishes a proposed Constitution by 28th February 2015;
- submits this Constitution to the people in a referendum to be held on 7th May 2015.
