Change payment of Stamp Duty on property purchase to be on a sliding scale in the same way income tax is payed, rather than the stepped changes in force at the moment. In other words pay 1% between £125k - £250k and then 3% on the amount between £250k and £500k and 4% above £500k.
This would help to avoid distorting the market in borderline cases and make sales more fluid.
