Businesses are obliged, by law, to submit online VAT and PAYE reports etc. In addition, more and more business is conducted over the internet, online banking, downloading of software and updates, invoicing etc. Without the benefit of fast broadband businesses in rural areas are being strangled and will eventually have to relocate or close down. The government must take action now. The government should provide funding to all businesses to enable them to access fast internet , be they in city centres or rural areas.
